Susan L. Starr
Susan began her career as a process engineer at Conoco and then at ARCO Oil and Gas Company working in major projects engineering. She completed process design work and modeling for a variety of installations including crude stabilization, fractionation, CO2 gas handling, NGL recovery, and gathering systems. In 1990, Susan accepted a position as lead Process Engineer for the design, installation, and start-up of a new gas facility which included gas gathering, gas compression, and treatment.
In 1991, Susan accepted a position as Financial Analyst where she was responsible for economic valuations of oil and gas exploration prospects, valuation and analysis of crude oil and natural gas asset acquisition/divestiture opportunities, and review and analysis of potential joint ventures. She also developed an asset portfolio analysis model for capital and resource allocations and developed a program for post-mortem evaluation of exploration drilling.
Susan transferred to ARCO’s technology group in 1993 as a Design Analysis Engineer where she utilized hazard analysis techniques to identify potential hazard scenarios for oil and gas facilities. In 1994, Susan transferred to ARCO International where she was assigned as Process Engineer for a one billion dollar, enhanced oil recovery project. Responsibilities included optimization of existing crude stabilization and process design for a new gas plant.
In 1994, Susan accepted a position as a Senior Analyst in ARCO International’s planning and evaluation group where she provided business support for new venture activities in Latin America, Africa, and Europe. Her responsibilities included evaluation of foreign profit sharing contracts and tax regulations for cash flow analysis, negotiations support, strategic analysis, and planning support on exploration, development, and enhanced oil recovery deals.
Susan joined Muse, Stancil & Co. in 1997 as a Consultant working on a variety of economic valuations and market analyses in crude oil, natural gas, gas processing, and refined products. In 2012, Susan added the duties of Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Muse, Stancil & Co. while continuing to consult for clients.
In March 2016, Susan joined Pearson Adair & Co. as a Senior Consultant and Financial Manager providing consulting services in asset valuation, project development, and financial analysis related to assets in gas and liquids transportation, gas processing, refining, and storage. She combines global insight and complex modelling expertise to provide clients with evaluations and assessments unique to each business opportunity.
